State Bridge Road Widening and Pedestrian Bridge over Chattahoochee River

Johns Creek, GA

To increase vehicular capacity, the City of Johns Creek proposed widening State Bridge Road from west of the intersection at Parkway Baptist Church to the east side of the Chattahoochee River and construct a new pedestrian bridge over the river north of the existing bridges. The crossing is in a FEMA Zone AE; therefore, the bridge replacement was sized to meet all applicable FEMA, County, and City requirements that included a No-Rise Certification and no adverse impact downstream.

Aulick Engineering performed the hydraulic modeling and prepared a detailed hydraulic study for the city. MS4 compliance services were performed for the Johns Creek and Gwinnett County portions of the adjacent roadway projects, which included following each entity’s feasibility and exemption guidelines to show that no adverse impacts were anticipated due to the project construction. Therefore, no stormwater BMPs were recommended.
