SR 120 / Kimball Bridge Road Widening

This project included approximately 1.3 miles of road widening and sidewalk construction. Aulick Engineering provided stormwater design, drainage design, and erosion control design services. The project was designed by following the GDOT PDP. Since the GDOT MS4 program was in its development stages, the project required close coordination with GDOT staff to ensure the project was meeting the intent of the Program, while providing a cost-effective and beneficial stormwater plan for the City.
Right-of-way was limited, therefore Aulick staff worked closely with the client to develop creative solutions for providing stormwater management while utilizing GDOT’s infeasibility criteria. Construction support and assisting with field clarifications and modifications was also provided.

One of our more recent projects was the Atlantic Aviation FBO Terminal Complex at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. We hired Aulick Engineering to provide airport and civil site design services for the 25-acre development; their scope encompassed nearly 15 acres of new pavement for taxilanes, aprons, and parking lots on the 25-acre site. Aulick was responsible for airport design, civil site design, stormwater management design, erosion control design, and city and county permitting coordination. Additionally, Aulick was retained to provide construction administration and limited construction inspection services.
Aulick Engineering impressed me through all phases of the project. As can be expected at a World War II-era site, several field issues were encountered during the construction phase of the project. Aulick staff members were extremely responsive when these issues arose and were able to be at the job site within minutes; their engineers were resourceful and quickly came up with innovative solutions to ensure that the construction schedule was not adversely impacted.
