Rehabilitate Air Carrier and General Aviation Apron – Phase 2 at Augusta Regional Airport (AGS)
Aulick Engineering provided full-time Resident Project Representative (RPR) services for this rehabilitation project at Augusta Regional Airport. This project involved replacing the existing asphalt apron with P501 concrete and included several phases with different design sections. A critical component of the design was a P-304 Cement-Treated Base Course.
The project included storm drain, P154, P152, underdrain, markings, signage, and electrical, and involved full-depth replacement for five (5) phases spread out across the ramp. The project finished several weeks ahead of schedule and $300,000+ under budget. As a result of these savings, the FAA awarded the airport with a change order to add Connector Taxiway A3. Connector A3 was completed between January and April and finished on schedule and within budget. Through careful coordination with FAA tech ops and airport electricians, no utility strikes happened during this project.
One of our more recent projects was the Atlantic Aviation FBO Terminal Complex at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. We hired Aulick Engineering to provide airport and civil site design services for the 25-acre development; their scope encompassed nearly 15 acres of new pavement for taxilanes, aprons, and parking lots on the 25-acre site. Aulick was responsible for airport design, civil site design, stormwater management design, erosion control design, and city and county permitting coordination. Additionally, Aulick was retained to provide construction administration and limited construction inspection services.Aulick Engineering impressed me through all phases of the project. As can be expected at a World War II-era site, several field issues were encountered during the construction phase of the project. Aulick staff members were extremely responsive when these issues arose and were able to be at the job site within minutes; their engineers were resourceful and quickly came up with innovative solutions to ensure that the construction schedule was not adversely impacted. I have witnessed the same behavior while working with Aulick on other projects and appreciate the professionalism and enthusiasm that they bring to our project teams.”
