This project generally consisted of stormwater management design, road drainage design, erosion control design, and construction cost estimating for a road relocation project in Sandy Springs, GA. Stormwater management calculations were performed using XP-SWMM to determine the overall impacts of the proposed project to the existing stormwater system. The existing system consists of adjacent property owners who currently complain of issues with flooding and channel scour. Therefore, the system had to not only meet MS4 requirements and meet pre-construction conditions, but also had to consider ways to alleviate existing stormwater runoff issues. In addition, there was limited area available to provide stormwater management facilities. A benefit-cost analysis was performed on several options and recommendations were made for the most efficient and cost-effective stormwater solution. The proposed stormwater management plan consists of a combination of a walled detention pond and a bioretention area to treat water quality and volume concerns.
